Episode 3 Show Notes
January 26th, 2008 Posted in Show NotesOur website was down for about a week and a half due to several issues, so these notes are going up a little late. Fortunately, the feed is still live even when the site goes down; you can find it at http://switchpod.com/users/timetourists/feed.xml.
INTRODUCTION
The show opened with Sean and Sean talking about the website being down, and the fact that http://www.timetourists.com is owned by the Germans.
HUMOROUS HISTORY
This week’s segment focused on the CADAVER SYNOD, surely one of the weirdest court cases ever to take place in history. Sean’s reference came from an article by Prof. Donald E. Wilkes, Jr, but he also recommends the book The Bad Popes by Russell Chamberlain. It’s a very amusing read.
DEISM VS. ATHEISM / PRANK CALLS TO 1999
Sean and Sean had a spirited discussion about their spiritual views. Present Day Sean is a deist, and Future Sean is an atheist. That’s interesting enough. But then, they agreed to disagree and started prank calling 1999 Sean, whom they decided is a total idiot. He wasn’t buying it, though, and kept hanging up on them.
WHERE IS SEAN IN SPACE AND TIME?
Future Sean realized he was in Alexandria this week… but he wasn’t certain he was in the Alexandria in Egypt. Fortunately, Sean and Sean were able to confirm that he probably was in Egypt since there was a giant library, an enormous lighthouse, and Egpytian art. Oddly, there were very few Egyptians, since the Greeks who lived there didn’t like them very much!
Future Sean also considered that he could have been in Alexandria Troas, just north of the isle of Lesbos, which he thought was excited. But the isle of Lesbos is just another island in the Aegean; its reputation for female love was restricted to the poet Sappho much earlier in history.
ANOTHER PRANK CALL
Sean tried to give his past self some advice, but 1999 Sean wouldn’t listen to him and was mean and sarcastic instead. What a loser.
MOVIE REVIEW - FREQUENCY
Sean and Sean both hated this movie, and gave it an “F” for its crappy storyline and being way off on the whole issue of temporal anomalies. But next week, they’re reviewing “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure,” which they’re both excited about.
